Role Summary:
The Head of Engineering–Cone Denim is responsible for all engineering, utilities, civil, mechanical and electrical systems, extra low voltage system for a denim garment plant, including denim laundry, dry process, laser, PP-spray, washing, dyeing development machines, boilers, ETP/WTP, air compressors, and building infrastructure.
In addition, the position will oversee all civil maintenance and structural integrity of the plant, covering flooring, machine foundations, drainage systems, chemical-resistant areas, utility trenches, roof and building repairs, and construction/modification works required for laundry, dry process, and utility areas. The leader ensures that all civil and mechanical works comply with Mexican NOM standards, fire codes, and industrial safety norms.
The incumbent will drive energy efficiency, cost optimization, preventive and predictive maintenance, and system reliability while managing a multi-disciplinary engineering team. This role is central to maintaining plant uptime, supporting expansions, and ensuring world-class infrastructure performance aligned with global denim manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Apparel Process Engineering
Must lead the technical performance and maintenance of:
- All kind of washing machines, Ozone machines, Stone washing drums
- Spray booths (PP Spray, manual spray, e-flow)
- Hydro extractors & dryers
- Shade control, bleaching, tinting, softeners, enzyme processes
- Temperature, dosing, and water-flow controls
- Ensure stable utilities maintenance for machine precisions
- Troubleshoot of all machines in production
2. Utilities & Plant Infrastructure
Responsible for managing the entire utilities section:
- Boilers: Safe operation, steam generation, efficiency monitoring.
- Compressors: Ensure consistent compressed air supply & leakage control.
- Power Supply Systems: Generators, transformers, switchgear, panels, power distribution & cables.
- HVAC Systems: Ventilation, air conditioning, exhaust systems.
- Water Supply Systems: Pumps, RO plants, wastewater treatment (ETP).
- Firefighting Systems: Fire pumps, hydrants, sprinklers, alarms.
- CCTV infrastructure
- Monitor electricity, gas, diesel, and water consumption.
- Implement energy-saving projects (LED, VFD, solar, and process optimization).
- Reduce utility cost per garment
3. Civil Engineering & Infrastructure
The role must cover all civil and structural responsibilities, including:
- Oversee all industrial building construction including laundry, dry process, warehouses, chemical rooms, utility blocks, and admin areas.
- Design and approve machine foundations for heavy dynamic loads (from spnning to garment all division including washing machines, dryers, extractors, boilers, lasers).
- Plan and execute drainage systems, chemical-resistant flooring, proper slopes, and wastewater channels for wet processing areas.
- Manage all utility routing (steam, water, compressed air, electrical, chemical pipelines) with proper trenching and civil–MEP integration.
- Ensure proper ventilation, exhaust, heat management and air movement systems for laundry, dry process, and laser rooms.
- Ensure all civil works meet Mexican NOM standards, fire codes, structural safety norms, and municipal permitting requirements.
- Lead preventive maintenance for civil structures including roofing, flooring, walls, foundations, drainage, fire exits, and expansion renovations.
Educational Requirements:
- E. / B.S. in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
- Boiler-specific certification and Familiarity with NOM standards for boilers, pressure vessels, and safety
- Additional preferred certifications:
- Energy Management
- HVAC / Thermodynamics
- Industrial Safety
